Sparked by the blatant censorship of Wafaa Bilal's artwork in March 2008, Free Troy Letters sheds light on attempts to limit democratic governance and discussion by mapping responses to authoritarian practices at RPI and in the City of Troy, NY.
What can I do?
If you have already sent a letter expressing concern over violations of democracy and free speech, please send it to us at freetroyletters@gmail.com so we can add it to the compilation.
If you would like your letter listed without identifying information, it will be made anonymous.
To voice your concerns over the recent closure of the Sanctuary for Independent Media, you can write to mayorsoffice@troyny.gov.
Or contribute to the discussion on the closing of Bilal's show at RPI and the suspension of the Faculty Senate by contacting president@rpi.edu.
